| Description: | This position will perform the primary function of batch reconciliation. Additional responsibilities include obtaining/verifying all necessary documentation to resolve missing charges.
This is a temporary full-time position with no benefits. The duration period is approximately 3 months. This position is located inside Wishard Hospital. |
| Duties: | • Interacts with all internal and external customers in a caring and respectful manner in accordance with our Core Values philosophy.
• Reviews to determine and track inpatient electronic records in assigned hospitals for missing visit documentation.
• Ensures all billable services performed by the IUMG-PC attending physician have been properly submitted for charge entry.
• Uses the facility census and inpatient ward schedule to create a missing ticket report.
• Prepares encounters to be coded off- site.
• Validates and resolves missing charges.
• Receives submitted charges from billing service and reconciles against original coded abstracts.
• Works as a liason between the billings services and coders to resolve errors.
• Maintains protected health information in accordance with HIPAA privacy guidelines.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Participate in professional development activities to keep current with health care trends.
• May provide accurate and appropriate medical necessity linkage of reported diagnosis.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

| Qualifications: | KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Average knowledge of practice approved coding structure in addition to ICD-9/CPT-4/link coding, and knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of correct coding and compliance documentation.
• Knowledge of medical practice software.
• Knowledge of Federal, State and Managed Care Organizations medical program rules and regulations.
• Ability to plan, analyze and problem-solve, organize and prioritize work.
• Ability to meet productivity and accuracy goals.
• Ability to show flexibility and proficiency when working with competing priorities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
• High School graduate or GED required.
• Two (2) years related physician office experience
• Three (3) years medical billing experience highly desired
• Able to type 30 awpm
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Professional office work environment, some local travel required
